Intimacy grows where honesty lives.

Psalms 139:23-24 NLT

REFLECTION

Real intimacy always involves honesty.

When we grow close to someone, we eventually stop filtering every word. We begin sharing what’s actually happening in our hearts…the good, the confusing, and even the things we’re not proud of.

The same is true in our relationship with God.

Sometimes we think we need to pray the “right” words or approach God with everything already figured out. But Scripture shows us something different. The bible is full of people speaking honestly with God, especially in the book of Psalms—expressing joy, confusion, fear, anger, gratitude, and hope. God isn’t looking for polished prayers. He’s inviting real conversation.

Psalm 62:8 says, “Pour out your hearts before Him, for God is our refuge.” That means nothing in your heart is too messy, too complicated, or too uncomfortable to bring to Him. The truth is, God already knows what you’re thinking and feeling. Honesty doesn’t inform Him—it invites Him deeper into your life.

This week is about removing the filter.

Not trying to sound spiritual.
Not hiding the hard parts.
Not pretending everything is fine.

Just bringing your real heart to God.

Because intimacy grows where honesty lives.

Journal Prompt

Take a moment to reflect and answer the following questions in your journal:

  • What emotions do I find hardest to bring to God?
  • What have I been holding back from God lately?
  • What would it look like to talk to God honestly today?

  • How does knowing God already sees everything change how I pray?

God welcomes honesty and responds with Grace, not rejection.

Prayer

Lord God, You already know my heart. Help me speak honestly with You and trust that You welcome every part of my story. Amen.
