Change is inevitable. But what matters is staying connected to our Source.
Life has a way of shifting. Sometimes it’s exciting (a new opportunity, a new direction, a fresh start). Other times it’s uncomfortable (uncertainty, pressure, or seasons where things feel unsettled). Change is inevitable. But one thing that matters deeply in every season is this: staying connected to our Source.
Have you ever driven a car that needed alignment? The moment you loosen your grip on the steering wheel, the car begins to drift. Slowly at first, but steadily pulling you off course. Spiritually, the same thing can happen in our lives.
When life changes (new responsibilities, unexpected challenges, transitions we didn’t plan) it becomes easy to drift if we are not intentional about staying connected to God.
Staying Connected to the Vine
In John 15, Jesus gives us a simple but powerful picture:
“Live in me. Make your home in me just as I do in you… I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you… the harvest is sure to be abundant.” (John 15:4–5)
The branch doesn’t produce fruit by trying harder. It produces fruit by staying connected. Jesus’ invitation is not first about activity — it’s about abiding. Remaining. Staying close. When we stay connected to Him, life flows from that connection.
God Is Present in Every Season
Scripture reminds us that God is present in every type of season. In the book of Acts, Stephen stood boldly for his faith even in the face of persecution. In the midst of accusations and hostility, his life still reflected the presence and peace of God. Then we see Saul (a few chapters later) determined to destroy the church — suddenly encounter Jesus on the road to Damascus. In a moment, everything about his direction changed.
Two very different stories. Yet both reveal the same truth: God is working.
God works in seasons of courage and in seasons of correction. He works in seasons of clarity and in seasons of disruption. If your life feels like it’s shifting right now, that doesn’t mean God has stepped away. Often, it means He is still at work in ways we are learning to trust.
You Have Been Made Right With God
One of the greatest anchors we have in times of change is the reminder that our relationship with God is not based on our perfection. Romans 5 tells us that through Jesus, we have been made right with God. Not because we earned it, but because of His grace. Because of Christ, we stand in a place of peace with God. And Romans 8 reassures us of something powerful:
Nothing — not trouble, not hardship, not the past, not uncertainty about the future — can separate us from the love of God. Not even the seasons we’re still trying to understand.
Learning to Believe Again
As children, belief often comes naturally. We trust easily. But as we grow older, life can make belief feel more complicated. We learn to question, to analyze, to only accept what makes sense. Yet the invitation of faith remains the same: to believe again.
To trust that God is present.
To trust that He is working.
To trust that even in seasons of change, we are still connected to Him.
A Word for This Season
Wherever you find yourself right now let this encourage you: God is with you.
You are not navigating your season alone. Through Jesus, you have been made right with Him. And nothing can separate you from His love. Stay connected to the Vine. Stay aligned with the One who gives life. And trust that even now, God may be doing something new.
“Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand-new.” — Isaiah 43:18–19
